Pressed glass beads manufactured in the Czech Republic.
How are they made?
They are made in small quantities using hot glass which is pressed into moulds and come in a myriad of shapes & sizes. When the glass is heated until it is molten it is pressed into moulds where it is stamped and holes are pierced. The beads are then rolled in hot sand to soften seam lines and remove flashing. Pressed beads are molded in small batches, as a result the beads are all slightly different from each other and there are colour variations from batch to batch.
- No Single Melting Point:
Glass doesn’t have a single, sharp melting point like a crystal, but rather softens and transitions to a molten state over a range of temperatures, typically between 1400 to 1600 degrees Celsius (2552 to 2912 degrees Fahrenheit)
-
Softening vs MeltingAt temperatures below this range, glass is still solid but can become more pliable, while at temperatures above this range, it becomes a liquid that can be shaped and molded.
